Leonardo's Legend Poem by Francis Duggan

Leonardo was first to experiment in making flight equipment he knew one day that humans would fly
He visualized human operated aircraft each time that he looked at the sky
He could look far into the future to at least five centuries of time
A genius he was so creative when he was in his glorious prime.

Leonardo cut up human corpses the human inners he did draw
The potential of human surgery five centuries ago he saw
The one who looked into the future and the fellow who dared for to dream
The one who could see all things as possible to him nothing did seem impossible 'twould seem.

Leonardo looked into the river in the force of water he could see great power
He visualized the great age of technology with human genius beginning to flower
He recognized the great force in Nature such things that Leonardo could see
Leonardo the one for all ages was there ever greater than he?

Leonardo was more than an artist though as an artist he was great
The first multi talented person his legend does not have a use by date
There has been so many great people who like the Seasons have come and have gone
But there was only one Leonardo and Leonardo's legend lives on.
