Left In The Dark Poem by John Dillenger II

Left In The Dark

Left alone in the dark
Not a drop of light, not even a spark
the world around tumbles into the depths
where will you stand when the world comes to an end?

Where life leads in your time of need
is where you need to be indeed
for without the troubles and stories of life
what would you learn, the sound of a fife?
When you sit and stare and move not an inch
no food earned, not even a pinch
you must do what you can to survive in this place.
Lest you be lost in the unending space.
Which is far but close, close but far
reached by boat and car
if you should find yourself alone in the dark
remember that light, that tiny spark
for it will save you from the depths
and you will stand when the world comes to an end.
