Lee Rigby Poem by Cynthia Buhain-baello

Lee Rigby

When I read of his tragic story
I was deeply moved at the loss
For he was killed for the worst of reasons,
By treachery for a misguided cause.

His only transgression, the killers said-
Was to fight in a war as his duty,
A loyal subject who now lies dead
Whose allegiance was set for his country.

Cut off at the prime of his life,
By those who believe they would gain
Advancement of their unjust cause-
At the expense of a man's death and pain.

Without a father, now lives his young son,
Perhaps in his mind, cannot see-
Why such evil thrives in the world of Man
How some men can act so cruelly?
