Leaving Town Alive Poem by Rachel Brewer

Leaving Town Alive

You shouldn’t have come back,
All those things you did,
All those years ago.

You shouldn’t have come back,
All those things you did,
For everyone to know.

You shouldn’t have come back,
Because what you did,
Has stayed around.

You shouldn’t have come back,
Because what you did,
Was buried under the ground.

You shouldn’t have come back,
Because people thought you would die,
They never thought you would survive.

You shouldn’t have come back,
Because people thought you would die,
And now you have to worry about leaving town alive.

good verse with repetitious effects about the concern for the life of one who has returned.
