Leave Completely Poem by Ellen Shaw

Leave Completely

If you are going to leave me
Leave.
Completely.
Don't stay one kiss
away.
Don't lay within my bed
and dream
of someplace else
dream only of me
or leave me
completely.
Don't look into my eyes
as though in them you could drown
don't sound unhappy to speak
when you call
busy or bored.
If you don't want to talk to me
don't call me.
Just leave me.
Completely.
Don't pull me into an embrace
so close
so scared to let me go.
Don't push me away
when I cuddle up to you
don't sit beside me
if you don't want me.
Just leave me.
Completely.
Don't make love to me
in the lamp lit room
don't moan into my ear
as you thrust to get inside of me
don't say you love me
when you only love something else
some one else
some other girl.
If you don't love me.
Just leave me.
Completely.
Don't stay beside me
half heartedly.
A part-time lover
a shadow in the sun
don't tell me everything
has to be on your terms
your times
your wants
your needs.
What about me?
If you don't want to stay
whole heartedly
then just leave me.
Completely.

Ellen, you haveen crafted a grand piece herein. An announcement of self preservation that commands at least you be respected and reserve the right to your own happiness. So very heartspoken about being heartbroken by the disguise that love can sometimes wear. I have saved this to my list of favorites, your honesty is refreshingly realistic! My Mother always said, if they can stand to leave you, you can stand to see them go...
