Lazy Days Poem by Maja Dezulovic

Lazy Days

Lazy days spent in bed
With a netbook
Warming my stomach
That can’t be good!
But I discovered more of the world
And I remembered you.

Played my music
Making a point to keep it slow.
Nameless tracks
By Unknown Artist
Now make sense.
So next time I hear them
I can say I know that!

Scattered thoughts
Triggered by emotions
Songs
And fading memories of you.

Missed appointments
And study guides left untouched.
Because I really didn’t feel like
Fulfilling those obligations
Not today.

Altered dreams
Interrupted by lunch
And quick chores.

The African countryside outside my window
And the scent of the Adriatic on my mind.
I relive the festivities every day.
Tables stacked with food and laughter
And my worried mind at bay!

But anyway,
Here’s to lazy days!
Here’s to today!
Because although I did “nothing” –
I lived another day!
