LAWS OF THE MAJOR - Poor Father weeps there
She is a Christian and he is Hindu
In bonds of marriage, at Registrar’s Chamber
despite both-side parental disapproval
they are majors, laws and rules are in their favour
in louder pitch, they defy their hapless parents
marriage gets registered and valid in the eyes of law
both are of same batch, PSU executive trainees
posh quarters, new car, modern kitchen
all their possessions, their own selection
they together dine out, to INOX every week end
perfectly happy, everyday their love becomes thicker
even their parents could not have found such a groom-er
parents are lamenting in the children’s absence
no concern of poor souls - not even a phone call -
their rightful dreams have melted down in intermittent tears
On the birth day of his lost daughter,
her father celebrates a mass at his local parish
for the blessings and welfare of his beloved-
without any least hatred for the misdeeds she did
innocently inviting near and dear for a small feast, further
……………..the depth of parental love, no child can fathom.
