I bought a lantern today
made of wire and paper
I'll release it soon
to light the dark sky later
it'll be a beacan
to signal dreams and wishes on their way
my lantern will stand for everything
that words could never say
I'll write a message on my lantern
one of wishes and goodbyes
its written to the boy I love
who now lives in the skies
to let him know im hurting
whilst he is away
it'll contain every tear I used up
when I cried on his last day
I'll write to tell him that I know
although Im hurting badly
its time to let him go
so I'll write this painful message
and send it on with my lantern
glowing through skies of gold and blue
to my shining angel
