Lamp Post Poem by nimal dunuhinga

Lamp Post

Rating: 5.0

The street children under the Pole Star
read the English alphabet.
I heard one said ' twenty six letters too much
if it's half of that
we can learn very fast.'
Very sad to hear a lame boy reads a fairy tale
'Once upon a time there lived a king'.
All of a sudden a police car came
and took them away for suspicion of a looting.

Where some see innocence others see corruption. A wonderful piece Nimal. It made me wonder if this was a commentary on pauperism in general. If so it is masterly done, if not.. well I read it as such.

Oh the sadness of this, when do we learn that the Children act as a reflection of our own doing, yet we blame them, too much, not thinking of our own actions that have contributed to this problem Thankyou Nimal Very deep feeling in this one Love Duncan x

Would that all street children had such an eloquent poet to plead their case. Encore, Nimal. Kind regards, Sandra
