Lackadaisical Liar Vs Shipshape Student Poem by Michael Tran

Lackadaisical Liar Vs Shipshape Student

One year five student loved to lie
And even you could not deny,
That he deserved to have detention
For getting everyone's attention
The other student, was as good as gold
He always did as he was told
He came early to every lesson
And never missed a single session
Jealous, the liar plotted against the classmate
He would prove the other as stupid as a plate
At assembly as the principal spoke,
The liar proceeded to make his hoax.
‘It is him, the dirty rat, ' he said,
‘Who kicked me in the in the groin with a foot made of lead! '
The whole assembly filled with the sound of voices
Should they believe what the liar says?
At last, the principal shouted in everyone's face
‘Let us have our first real court case!
‘This classmate of yours, you say, kicked you viciously in the groin? '
‘Yes sir, ' the liar replied, ‘and broke all my teeth and took my coins.'
The whole school gasped, the teachers bowed their heads
For with this testimony, their favourite student was as good as dead
So the principal asked him, ‘What have you got to say? '
And the school declared detention; he would get no play.
But the innocent student stood straight without fear,
He spoke clearly even when the liar jeered.
‘Have you not seen he is a fraud?
I'm already getting bored.
Can you not see past his pretence?
Where is all his evidence?
I am innocent till proven guilty,
He is the one who is incredibly filthy.'
The liar knew that he had won
His vengeance was successful with this brilliant con.
In his satisfaction, he gave a giant smile
Which was ugly and looked very vile
And when he showed all of his rows of teeth
He wished his lips hadn't shown what was underneath.
For all the rows were missing none,
He realized what he had been outdone.
The assembly as one gasped in fright
But the liar wasn't going to give up without a fight.
‘No! It was him! It is all his fault! '
The principal scowled, ‘No it isn't, dolt!
‘He never laid a hand on you!
You shall be the one who will rue
Getting all that bloomin' attention,
For I am giving you a whole year's detention! '

A good poetic tale of school yard justice and a lesson to only attempt a deception if you are really really smart and a great liar with an even better momory. Well done.
