Kitchen Sink Week Poem by Kevin Patrick

Kitchen Sink Week

Saturday was having Sundays baby
becoming an obnoxious hangover called Monday,
a born pessimists with cannibal eyes
Tuesday was the middle child
eternally despondent with inadequacy
until he reached the summit of Wednesday,
a peculiar fellow who was lanky by trade
but everyone knew the underrated
underdog was Thursday, a born contender for second
place, whom everyone liked, but was not quite
the looker as his colleague or that it girl of Friday,
shameless Madonna on the x mark of the calendar
but if she wasn't easy enough, then there was her
sister, Saturday, a sybaritic wild child ready to play.
you could always have a good time with her
even though she was still underage
and always cried when it was over.

And Saturday was having Sundays baby
