Keep Them Still

from the heavens you gently fell
shading dreams from the sun's eyes
swallowing the scent of hopeful flowers
until the blue reclaims shallow skies
and in your serene passing
moths shake their wings of you
bending light that skims the air
to regain their blissful hue
and if you come as quiet still
when even tide sings prayers
to stir the sleep of mice
and prove such dreams weren't theirs
