Justify My Worship Poem by Tulsi Shrestha

Justify My Worship

JUSTIFY MY WORSHIP
I purchased an image of my own God
to hang on the wall, by the side of my bed.
I managed Pilgrims to ensure religious beliefs.
for the sake of divine worship.
I bathed the idol of mighty God.
with a jar of sweet fresh milk
and a basket full of
delicious fruits and flowers.
as heartly offering to beloved God.
Suddenly I noticed some forbidden
dirty-boys outside of temple;
gazing me with thirsty throats and dry mouths
and countable ribs and empty stomachs.
My conscience can't justify what I have done.
Who really do need food and shelter.?
Infants die of malnutrition
Poor die untimely from starvation.
There is disease as a gift for them.
Your donation for temples and churches
along with mosques and stupas
golden roofs, sky - kissing idols
might be enough to feed
those suffered people.
It is time to awake from illusive dream
to regard humanity itself
as the best religion.
as the best religion.
