Just One More Fool Poem by Francis Duggan

Just One More Fool

I've seen many a sunset and many a moonrise
Yet with six decades of living I still am not wise
For wisdom belongs to the privileged few
And in saying that I am not saying anything new.

I am just one more fool many like me out there
The wise they are born that way and the wise they are rare
Yet the wise I have met with on one hand I could count
And the depth of their wisdom to greatness did amount.

For my years of living I've little wisdom to show
And the more I learn from life the less I know I know
The great seed of wisdom in a garden doesn't grow
And for knowledge of life I've a long way to go.

I've seen many a moonrise and many a sunset
And with many so many not unlike me I've met
But I've met with few wise people for such people are rare
And such people one does not meet with everywhere.
