Just Me Poem by Linda Engwall

Just Me

Realizing we absolutely
Cannot
Own our future
So many hands responsible
For our fate
Twists and turns guiding us along ever way

People
Shaping us
We are not alone
Like the waves that comes
Crashing down the shore at night
We cannot ever know what
Comes ashore
In the morning light

Still I wish, some days the journey was only mine
I wonder what it would look like
Nothing pulling or tugging me in this or that direction
A clearer vision of how I would be if I could only see me

Wondering what kind of life would it be
It my world revolved only around me
Would I have the so many pleasures that come to me
From others

Still I find, some days
Myself drifting
To a place
Where I could clear
See just me
