Just Another Day Poem by Mark Hopwood

Just Another Day

Look at the sun as it breaks through the sky
Like the light energising the minds eye
Trying to see through the drifting clouds
But trapped behind the many shrouds.

Look at the moon when its high in the night
Seeing the world with second sight
Surrounded by stars, So many miles away
Worlds apart and staying that way.

So dark but so very clear
Like staring through a glass tear
Holding Black breathe, tight in a jar
And watching over the story so far.

So light, but heavy and faint
Everything to be seen is covered in paint
It's all just a show, just a disguise
From the earth to the sun, from the sea to the skies.

And a plane flies overhead, off to far-away
Heading for tomorrow and leaving today
So many lives, surrounded by metal
A flower wilts and loses its petals.
It's just another day
The same as any other
Two days joining together
Like the stranger and their lover,
It's just another day
Flying away.
