Just a Problem

Just a smart girl
Just a athletic boy
Just a single mother
Just a working father

Four different people
Their lives to live
Each has
Just a simple problem

Each a terrible secret
Not one will share
Such a lonely
Burden to bare

The girl needs love
The boys in a gang
The mothers taking pills
The fathers affair

Cutting
Bleeding
Crying despair
Just an unloved girl

Killing
Beating
Out of control
Just a troubled boy

Stumbling
Staggering
Children ignored
Just an addicted mother

Yelling
Packing
Walking away
Just a runaway father

Girl in depression
Boy in jail
Mom in a hospital
Dad in a motel

Taking her life
His life taken
Treatment not helping
All the money has gone

The end of
Two lives
The sinking of
Two others

Secrets
Un hidden
A little
To late

If help
Came sooner
If someone
Had listened

A girl could
Find love
A boy could
Find hope

A mother could
Stop
A father could
Return

And once again
They could
Continue on
Their lives as

Just a girl
Just a boy
Just a mother
Just a father

But simple
As that a
Life spirals
Down because of

Just a problem

Tell me not (Sweet) I am unkind,
