Jungle Of The English Language Poem by Ken e Hall

Jungle Of The English Language

Rating: 5.0

Reading in the jungle of the English language
I begin to feel swamped Lost for derivative words of nouns adjectives and verbs
Hiding behind exclamations, conjunctions, prepositions.suffixes
Making my path for meaning foggy as I see thousands of obsolete words Lay by the wayside.

Without rhyme or reason we ride the syllabified rhythm as we speak
Wading in our lifetime through over one hundred thousand syllables.
My kingdom for a horse to ride over the mountain of words we never use,
Sympathetic syzsygy symbolism twisting the mother tongue
Ironically it sinks into children with the number one beginner being
Mammy and Daddy as the words are giggled and sung.

Now as these words envelope us into the English language we must
In today's world use the best words more like I love you, hug me, show mercy
To move forward in harmony across the world hand in hand.

Beautiful poem with the title so perfect. As we go into the Jungle of the English Language, so many species of grammar we come across. The more deeper we go, more words we come across. Really it's such a vast language where there is no end..We will keep on diving into it but still we tell, we didn't learn anything. I loved the way you presented this thoughtful write and concluding lines so beautiful...Very true said.. In today's world use the best words more like I love you, hug me, show mercy To move forward in harmony across the world hand in hand.

The message at the end is so inspiring! English language is one that is ever expadindg with ever increasing connotations and complications in syntax and usage! Yet if words are more often used to express sentiments of intimacy and concern like 'I love you' 'show mercy' etc. it will definitely help build harmony across the world! Great write!

There is too much elasticity in english language. Still there are so many words as i see in indian languages have no replacement. These words are required to be absorbed in english literature such as karma yoga avtar etc. still there is one word eg mun which can not be defined either as mind heart or soul. Infact globalisation of language is required. Thanks and Regards.
