Joy With Benefits, Joy With Regrets Poem by cebolenkosi kubheka

Joy With Benefits, Joy With Regrets

As I swallow the words
in the bible
Like a dying man swallows pills
As I preach the gospel
of the living God
like a dying man
Passing on his last wish
to his son
As I surrender my body and soul
to that which cannot be seen
But through faith it is found
I know that I am guaranteed
Eternal life
weapons formed against me
tumble and stumble
like a baby learning to walk

As I party so hard
like the world would
end in an hour
as I drink till I drop
as I take, take drugs
Till I get twisted
as I throw money at problems
sleep around
The world is mine
a king uncrowned, I am
If I die will I take my wealth with me?
Will I buy my way out of hell?
Will I bribe my way to heaven?
Precious Lord take me by the hand
Rescue me as I drown in alcohol
Lower a fishing hook
To the sea of sin
As I am consumed by sin
Oh! Lord I submit

what a great writer you are, I love the fact that you are creative and your poetry is just 'out of this world'
