Joy Of A Winter's Day Poem by Don Dickenson

Joy Of A Winter's Day

Scintillating snowflakes,
Decanted from the sky;
heaven’s precipitation,
Sparkling see them lie.
In the winter sunshine,
Reflecting shimmering rays,
they cover the dark and ugly,
Brightening our days.

Snowmen stare from garden lawns,
With snowy carrot noses.
Whilst every frosted holly bush,
Glows bright with crimson posies.
Fingers tingle from the cold,
Our cheeks are glowing red.
But still we climb the snowy hill,
To fly upon our sledge.

Children throw their snowballs,
Or slide in frozen Park.
Then hurry home to firesides,
Before the day grows dark.
It’s time to draw the curtains,
To settle in our chairs,
Unwind from all the daily stress,
Before we mount the stairs.
