John Betjeman Poem by Francis Duggan

John Betjeman

In his love of poetry one who did rejoice
And i do like his poems as they have their own voice
John Betjeman's his is a legendary name
His poems they live on to his enduring fame.

For his joyful verse he became famed and known
John Betjeman he had a style of his own
Like a musical river his verse race along
He surely was born with the gift of song.

The life from his body it may be long gone
But the poems of John Betjeman are living on
His poems say more of him than mere words can say
About him he had such a beautiful way.

From penning verse one who derived so much fun
He gave to the World 'Miss Joan Hunter Dunn'
One of the many joyful lyrics to flow from his pen
He was not one of the most serious of men.

To the major poets he is one who belong
And his voice in his poetry one cannot get wrong
His poems so well written a source of delight
That lovers of poetry do love to recite.
