John And Madge Poem by Francis Duggan

John And Madge

John at the T A B is placing a bet
And his wife Madge at home she is on the Internet
In a 'Chat Room' chatting to her love in England an Online affair
Though thousands of sea miles between here and there.

Of his wife's Online romance he is all too aware
But that doesn't bother him he doesn't care
Since love between them has died decades ago
And though living under the one roof they've lost love's bright glow.

Her Online affair it may very well die
Though the Chat Room experience something she enjoy
Her new Online love is a very nice bloke
And together they laugh and he cracks a good joke.

Since love between them it is very much dead
Madge and John no longer sleep in the one bed
And though on speaking terms they go their own way
Though under the one roof perhaps they will stay.
