John Poem by Zane Lewis

John

A star
It shined so bright
Then went out
Like a light

It was the brightest
In the whole sky
It outshone the rest
It was a true lie

It wasn't just any old light
It was my star
It was always there
Never far

It was a blessing
I'll never forget
It befriended me
Bit by bit

I told it
My secrets my dream
It taught me
How life should seem

It was sturdy
It was a tree
It was ended by an ax
No one will ever see

It was an angel on earth
The most beautiful man
I want it here with me
But it never can

The star that shone
Is lost overhead
Now I think about it
As I lay in my bed

Without it's light
I'm scared in the dark
For that star
Made it's biggest mark

The impression that star made
Will last a lifetime
Cause in my heart
It'll always shine
