Joe Poem by George Hunter

Joe

There once was a guy named Joe
Whose last name was DiMaggio.
—He married the queen
—Of Hollywood's screen
And that was his downfall, you know.

He loved her, oh so bad
And it was very sad
—When they went to court
—And got a divorce
'Cause she was all he had.

Later when she died,
He just broke down and cried.
—Every year on the day
—That she passed away
He'd deliver a rose to her side.

She's in heaven now he knows
And probably not wearing clothes.
—I'll remember her that way
—To really make my day
For in 'Playboy' she did pose.

(A quote from I don't remember where)
'Distraught that he could not rescue her one
more time, Joe DiMaggio made all the
arrangements for her funeral. On August 8,1962
he placed the love of his life in the wall of a crypt
and wept openly as he was driven away. Never
losing his love for her, he did not remarry. As he
laid dying in 1999, it had been said that his final
words were, 'Finally, I get to see Marilyn again.'

this is a quaint poetry, of love loss, such fluidity, Marilyn and Joe will always be, together finally! ! !
