Job Searching Blues Poem by Eric Niehoff

Job Searching Blues

Went back to school to improve my station
But the weak job market brings limitation.

Accomplished so much, awarded for deeds
Yet still can’t seem to find any good leads

Searching out companies, researching them all
Waiting each day for that important call

As frustration sets in, I have started to worry
The future it seems is looking quite blurry

How do you start in a new chosen field?
Unrelated experience, unable to yield

Months have gone by, dwindling hope
Look to family and friends to help me cope

They say good things come to those that wait
But waiting is something I truly hate

Being proactive used to serve me well
But this time it seems only time will tell

I can’t let down those who are counting on me
Last week in my search so we will see

If I am not successful I will have to settle until
With a job I don’t want that will pay my bills.
