Jenina Poem by Francis Duggan

Jenina

She still clings to the dream she's had for decades of one day meeting her soul mate
Just to meet with somebody compatible she feels would be worth the long wait
To gracefully grow old with someone that she could love and relate to
But she has found out from experience that love is for the lucky few.

Jenina has had many lovers but none of her loves seemed to last
But she will tell you she has learnt from all her mistakes of the past
She hasn't been soured by experience and she doesn't seem bitter at all
Though she has known love's disappointments some happy times
she can recall.

In life and love there's many pitfalls and few know of the easy life
And you won't hear many married women say I'm so lucky to be his wife
The Pop singers sing of their lovers but words are so easily said
Some couples they grow old together though love between them is long dead.

Jenina she never was married and her daughter is now twenty one
And she is now the proud grandmother of a seven months old grandson
A woman in her early forties she's only just turned forty two
And she hopes to yet meet her soul mate though soul mates in life are so few.
