Jawahar Lal Nehru - The Architect Of Modern India
He was the product of India's War
Of Independence under the able
leadership of Mahatma Gandhi
After India became Independent
And later on became a Republic
Nehru took over the reigns
As it's First Prime Minister.
He was a statesman and a visionary
And was the architect of modern India
For him the units of heavy industry
Were the new temples of the country
He gave a slogan 'Aaram Haraam hai'
(Sitting idle is bad and inauspicious)
He was Chacha Nehru to millions of
Children who loved and adored him
He also loved them and called them
The future of This great country
He was a man of letters- He authored
His 'Autobiography', 'Glimpses of World
History' and 'The Discovery of India'
All are great scholastic works of Nehru.
The day he died 54 years ago
All eyes had tears everyone was wailing
As if a family member had departed
It was on 27th May 1964 to be precise.

Jawahar Nehru was a famous statesman who devoted his life to India and getting independence from Britain. India is much better as a republic than a British dominion or colony. Nehru lives on through his books, a true man of letters.
