Jamiva Poem by Mustafa Marconi

Jamiva

As you lay here in my arms my love
Dreaming of tomorrows
To distant for eyes to see
Tossing and turning
To the rhythms of my soul
Pounding beat by beautiful beat
From the deepest recesses of my heart
I pray that you understand
That I will always be here to shield you
And to surrender my life so that you can live
As you rest here peacefully in my arms
So innocent and so sweet
I reminisce about the queen that gave you life
And how I once entertained her
The way that I now sing to you
In this moment of absolute clarity
I welcome this honorable responsibility
To ensure the survival of our DNA
In a manner that will make our forefathers proud
Embracing the challenge to nourish and cultivate
While willing to surrender my life so that my angel could live
As you sleep here in my arms Jamiva
I pray that one day you will truly understand
How you’ve filled my soul with happiness
Like a pleasurable breeze on a beautiful day
Dreaming of tomorrows
To distant for eyes to see
I envision a moment
Many years from now
When you reminisce about your grandfather
And how much he truly loved you
How he was always there to shield you
Embraced the challenge to nourish and nurture you
And was willing to sacrifice his life
So that his beautiful little angel would live
