Jail House Poem by Oluwatosin Richard Shiba Aribo

Jail House

A jail house where all corpses
Are warehoused,
A jailhouse of the ship wrecked,
A jailhouse slimey with dragon
Slaver'
Of a thousand brown roaches'
All crippled and crawling round a
Dead beetle'
A moonless night'
Filled with screams
And vampires old as centuries'
A jailhouse for the lonesome'
A jailhouse where the floor is
Hard as granite'
skies, overwhelmed
With wingless wild birds'
Going in and out
Of dark clouds'
An airless jailhouse with
Steel bars'
A jailhouse with walls
splashed with curse words
And scabs'
A jailhouse troubled as turbulent seas'
And littered with ciggarrette butt'
A hot jailhouse buried five hundred feet
Below the cemetary
cemetary of kisses'
A jailhouse cold as death''
A jailhouse worse than a jailhouse'
A perfect jailhouse'
That's me
