Jack And Tom Poem by Francis Duggan

Jack And Tom

Mr Jack 'I feel hard done by' for himself doing quite okay
And his life only revolves around greed
And with a wife and two young children to upkeep
He feels that he is one of those in need.

He gets paid three hundred dollars every day
And that's fifteen hundred for a five day week
And yet he feels that he is underpaid
And of his poverty he only speak.

But happy Tom who gets paid five hundred dollars a week
Has a wife and three young children to upkeep
He always has a big smile on his face
And to worries he doesn't lose any sleep.

Jack gets paid fifteen hundred and Tom one third of that amount
But Jack seems much the poorer of the two
The more some have the more they seem to want
And 'much wants more' so happen to be true.

The smiling Tom and unhappy looking Jack
And Tom of course the wealthier by far
But Tom rides to work each morning in the train
Whilst Jack drives out in his mercedes car.
