'It Was You' Poem by Infinity Poetry

'It Was You'

The smell on your shirt remains the same but you individually,
everything has changed
Your words grew short,
your voiced turned weak
yet I remember your words, when you used to speak
Our time was short but the memories are lasting
the distance between us, what is happening?
Everything about us was once so strong,
our moments were great but not for long
The possibilities of where your mind has wandered are endless
but it remains that my feelings are true,
I could never pretend this
This was once exciting when it had just begun
but now I wonder, was I just for fun?
Being with you has been an honor
but lately I've wondered what your mind has pondered
I long for something real, something so true
Perhaps I was naive to think it was you
My feelings have not faded; I've simply accepted
maybe this lust was short since it was unexpected
I still wait for your call but to me I've lost
Do I still come to your town, despite what it will cost?
I want what we had to last awhile
but now to think that you want me, I'm in denial
This seems so surreal, so shocking, and so rare
but to break my open heart please, don't you dare
Id except any challenge, id fight for our fate
but honesty is key and for you it might be too late
I hope and wish we can start over again
but I don't want to play your game of pretend
Show me you're real and keep me up late
Love me forever and I never will stray
I'll give you loyalty in its finest form,
I'll honor your soul and fix you when torn
but all of these things I'll take away,
if you don't acknowledge me everyday
So thank you for your time, while it lasted
It was fun, it was true but don't blame me for the ending
It wasn't me, it was you
