Is There True Love? Poem by JAMES T. ADAIR

Is There True Love?

Love needs faith
Love needs trust
Love needs devotion
without these three things
it will crumble, decay and rust

A stool need three legs to stand upon
and so to does love true
Love needs me and you
and love need US TWO
to weather adversity and carry on

Love needs affection and care
and love needs a soft and gentle touch
to remind of love...just how much
Love needs to breath and needs to sing
and if so, harmony love will bring

Love needs a soft hand to caress
and to feel secure and to give a heart rest
because the world can be hard and unkind
and LOVE...the best of life does remind
Our hopes and our reasons to strive to be kind

Love is the moment together in each others arms
protected from life's injuries and harms
Love is gentle, soft and sweet
soft touches felt from your lips to your feet
every moment you're near, the shared moments discreet

Love is nothing if it has no expression
without it there is hoplessness, lonliness
dispair, longing, emptiness and agression
Love picks up those who have fallen
and listens to those who are calling

Love is the reward that every sweet heart does crave
for all the kindness they ever wished and gave
Love is the only thing that you must use
and it does no good if forever you wait and save
You must risk giving love or go lonely to your grave

Some question if true love does exist
and the anwser is this...
Look inside your very heart, its deepest part
and ask yourself if you have a dream you hold
if only one dream you could keep ss you grow old

If the answer is love true
and for it you have felt pain and weep
pray to God for love before you sleep
and your heart will lead you to the path
where love can be found instead of wrath

Without love the world is just hollow and plain
and love wasted and spent with vain
awash with broken dreams, sorrorw and pain
but once you have found true love on which to depend
Sadness will finally meet its end and you will mend

And like a flower your will grow
in someone's eyes and heart and soul
all the little seeds of love you now sow
will have a place to go and in time you'll know
that someone loves and forever upon you it will show

And if one shold before the other from life depart
tears the other will cry from their soul and heart
but beauty, dignity, love and grace will never part
and one day you will meat again at Heaven's gate
because there for you your eternal love will patiently wait

And when you meet there your earthly love shared
will mean so very much more
more than you ever dreamed or wished for
becuase you will be free from sorrow and sadness
and will be filled with love and joy and gladess, for evermore.
