Is It So Arjuna! Poem by Dr.V.K. Kanniappan

Is It So Arjuna!

Asked Lord Krishna to Arjuna;
It was the time when Krushetra war
was going on fiercely!

Pandava and Kaurava armies
were fighting with might and valor,
Archery exponents Arjuna and Karna
were fighting face to face with bow and arrow!

Lord Krishna was the charioteer for Arjuna,
Anjaneya was flying on the flag of the chariot,
Arjuna and Karna were aiming their powerful arrows
towards the chariots of each other to push them away!

Arjuna’s dynamic arrow pushed
Karna’s chariot thirty five miles away,
whereas Karna’s arrow pushed
Arjuna’s chariot thirty miles away!

Arjuna managed to stand on his legs
Said to Krishna proudly, “See my bravery, Krishna!
My arrow pushed Karna’s chariot far away than his! ”
Krishna said now with a smile, ‘Is it so Arjuna”!

And further said, “Arjuna! I have a minor work,
You somehow manage Karna for sometime,
I forgot to say some information to Anjaneya
During Rama’s period itself, which I will say now!

I shall come in a short while,
Both Krishna and Anjaneya got down
from the chariot and flag immediately
The war was continuing still more fiercely!

At this instance, Karna shot one arrow
which pushed Arjuna’s chariot 150 miles away
Arjuna who fell down set the chariot straight
Collected his crown, arrows and its holder!

Both Krishna and Anjaneya arrived,
Back at their seat and flag respectively
Krishna, looking at Arjuna, asked him,
O’ Arjuna! How is it you are much far away?

Has Karna taken you at task?
Arjuna put his head down sadly
Krishna advised Arjuna that
“No one should boast of themselves!

There may be stronger people than you,
Think of you! You fell down 30 miles away
As and when we are helping on your side,
But Karna, without any help, fell 35 miles away!

Think loud who is stronger..!
Arjuna realized that there are equally
valiant and more valiant persons in reality,
fell at Lord Krishna’s feet!
