Inner Demon Poem by Tess Rockenstire

Inner Demon

Life is a struggle

The decadence of what tomorrow may bring

A tortured mind enveloped my face.

Oblivion smiles back at me.

The battle is won but the war continues.

Who would come to rescue me?

Patience screams “wait ‘til the hand of God”,

His loving arms will pull me out from misery.

My flesh beacons to surrender all,

The war of flesh and spirit wrestles with in.

Demons plays at my tortured mind.

And housed it with his forces

So, I struggled to abandon the place

And surrender to a lofty height.

Where the emblem of peace of the mighty rest.

As I stand in the lofty realm

I see the rise and fall of men.

The shadow of life is no longer blurred.

Visions of life became clear as light.

When you and I rest in peace.

From dust to starlight our New Hope is rebirth.
