Inn-I Poem by Hans Raj Sharma

Inn-I

Rating: 5.0

Since the murder
Of my friend
She-sparrow
And her spouse
Abandoned
My company
And their nest
In my garden
A sort of
Feeling of guilt
In failure
To save her life
Becoming
Stronger
And stronger
In my heart.

A healing touch
Offered
By the time
Another
Guest couple
Smaller in
Size and shape
Un-authoritatively
Authoritative
Occupied the nest
After having
Found it vacant.

A little bit
Fearing of me
Watchfully
Spying
My activities
Throughout
The day
After confirming
My nature
And behavior
Of born
Hospitality
For the birds
And animals
They heaved
A shy of relief.

Within no time
Restored back
The pleasantness
And cheerfulness
Of previous days
Shadowing
Painful and gloomy
Memories
Of the past.

Forgetting-
Viewed as
A short-memory
But, I enjoy
It to be
A cure of my ills.

For one may go
And the other
May come in
Occupying
The nest
In my garden
But, this-
Coming and going
Goes on for ever
Unnoticed
On this earth
Cycling as
The law of nature.

Time is a big healer. Thanks for an amazing narrative which gives credence to all important human values even when it involves birds and their nests. Thanks.
