Infected Paradise Poem by Joyce Rugg

Infected Paradise

Temperatures rise as morals fall
We've created a living hell
We pretend our decay's a lie,
It's easy, perfume masks the smell

Global warming is a falsehood
Because ignorance is cheap
We're the enemy of sea-bound strangers,
Our selfishness poisons beasts in their sleep

We're blissfully oblivious
As monuments become dust
A society of shining steel
Blooming sickly flowers of rust

Our civility will crumble
As the world starts to flood
And we'll become feral beasts
Drowning in seas full of blood

As always you do bring out the awarness of whats happening in our world, aint it sad though, and as to Franks comment on spelling were critics are concerned its true they dont look beyound what is staring them in face, so I say as one poet to another, shame on them for not seeing the talent thats right in front of their eyes, its not the mistakes we make its whats written in our hearts that count this is from your heart. Brillant by the way.

Strongly written, good poetry. Frank has made some very valuable comments. I will simply say I enjoyed the read. Keep up the good work. p.s. I make a typo once in a while, I am still using a 1600th century dictionary. Pirate Girl does all my editing and she cant spel nither.

Joyce, you display natural literary talent as well as a vast spectrum of potentials to be maximized as you persist in your quest as a Writer & or Poetess.Be watchful of spelling(Very 1st word in your above work) , as it is more crucial than many believe it to be...It's wrong to think this way, but many literary critics will take their eyes away from a poem on the spot if they see a grammarical or spelling faux-pas, as mathey are o walk away on the spotin poetry thanthese Readers/Critics are from the mindset that these type of mistakes indicate a lack of dedication & diligence to your own work. This is bizarre thinking, yet unfortunately great Poets & Writers are by their own admission...Eccentric birds. You have a penchant & skill for Third-Eye imagescaping, which gives you a leg & a half up on most, your age...You also display good acumen for stanzaic structure...I enjoyed the read...Good Luck, young lady... P.S....Raven.....Is this any reference to the greatest Poet(imo) of all-time, Edgar Allan Poe? ~FjR~ |
