Infected, Growth, Jealousy And Reconciliation Poem by Gordon D Wilkinson

Infected, Growth, Jealousy And Reconciliation

Rating: 5.0

Injected

When we first met some time ago
Strangers colliding
Hearts our own property
It must have been fate
Few words exchanged then
Just “sorry” leapt from my mouth
Surprisingly I was infected
Injected by a spark
Unseen
Coursing through my veins
Slowly but surely taking over
Condemning my heart
Love the stranger called

Growth

Loves seed surreptitiously planted
Like ivy vines taking hold
Making its home
Clinging
Burrowing deep
Ingesting my soul
Growing
Taking over this stubborn will
Mellowing disbelief

Jealousy

Hooked like a junkie
Needing that daily fix
One weekly top up never enough
Hours each day in conversation
Never enough
Meetings waited with eagerness
Jealous of works call
Just one missed connection
Turning this heart green
Envious
Bemused by my thoughts
Knowing them jealousy

Reconciliation

Togetherness
Stability at last returns
These irrational thoughts quieten
We are as one forever
My fix regulated by a morning kiss
Your body to hold at night
That voice on the telephone in breaks
Jealousy held in check
Shackled to common sense
Love that deepens daily
This mind reconciled
Calm and collected
Kissed into submission
The beast of fear succumbs
