Indifferent Stranger Poem by Arnie Hicks

Indifferent Stranger

the fires of passion rage
fusing mind and matter in the liquid heat of ecstasy and lust
the soul - no longer caged
yearns instinctively for intimacy and trust

circle of life - hunger feeding hunger
desire and temptation prove both feast and fuel for fantasy and flesh
from the sleepless dreams of waking slumber
like the noble phoenix risen - we soar to heights of unimagined depths

love be no more the indifferent stranger
for that light doth shine brightest
which knows the sanctity of surrender.
