Indian Summer Poem by Craig Steiger

Indian Summer

Almost by default
I slip further & further
Past unemployments
And broken plumbing
Into midsummer's lowest denominators,
Barefoot naked unshaven
Limping about the house,
Cold showers
And one-sheet-sleeping alone-
Knee surgery recuperations
Opening up the lazy day
And its slow hours-
I'm lazy too on doctor's orders
Reading Hass Ginsberg or Billy Collins
In the shade
Sipping vodka with homemade lemonade

Popped by to thank you for leaving a comment on my poem 'Fragile Beauties' and to read a bit. Enjoyed this poem. The subject matter was realistically rendered in a way that the user could visualize every bit of it. Regards.
