India, my country, a land of mysticism and modernity together,
Shimmering star of the orient, rising in horizon higher & higher.
India is a country with all the bounties, nature could afford to us,
Be it the boon of seasons, fauna & flora, anything one can guess.
Great Himalayas on the northern front as a king’s crown perfect,
Vast Ocean on the southern front laving its feet in great respect.
The rivers, the lush green jungles, the mountain ranges around,
Deserts and a long coastline, with all kind of resources abound.
People of different cast and creed live in harmony and peace,
Under one firmament, with a sense of unity, and real ease.
India has evolved itself into a modern nation after long strife,
Where values are still alive and religion is a way of holy life.
India is no more a country of bullock carts and snake charmers,
But a modern republic vying, in all the fields, with world powers.
How it happened and who made it possible, is a long story to say,
Many lives were laid and heavy price was paid to bring this day.
