Incontinence Of Youth Poem by Ibn Ali

Incontinence Of Youth

Portraits of a picture painted,
Love sick, some inebriated,
Prevention's preferable to cure,
But some things are innate and you can't deter for naught,
The outcome is a man deflated,
That supersedes the man elated,
He trod upon the beaten path and arrived where the fools preceded,
The wise are few amongst the people,
The best advice and longest lecture,
To them seems like conjecture, 'he knows not, and I know better'
Followed by, in quick succession, 'he used to say...... I should have listened'
They deem death a distant thought,
Show no concern for times due course, 'killing time' prevalent in their discourse,
In truth, we don't kill Time, Time kills us all,
Soon enough the 'wills' and 'cans',
Soon become 'I wish I had',
Looked forward, seeing hills, that now seem mountainous looking back,
Memories are scars of the soul, reminders of past transgressions,
The elders glance and sigh,
Most dwell in self obsession,
There's no progression, the youth grow up to become adolescent,
Not every male's a man and only men raise men but the real men are in recession.
