Incision... Poem by Frank James Ryan Jr...fjr

Incision...

Flaming heat of cold steel-tip
like the Sea that opened Exodus,
a parting from Egypt and Death-
the seperation of human flesh
after diprovan empties its stream.

Modern lasers, mundungus smoke
climbing queer as ivy on stone,
o'er sterile masks, spotlight, loud
breathing the rising spiral stench,
flesh warming latexed fingers.

Surgical stainless clamps applied
to a fissured suge of bloody black,
receded by thick meshed gauze
absorbing the surging upwell
like dunes drinking riptides.

Motion set in the Theatre,
principals gather in circle,
while the stale of melted dermis
sleeps deep within old ceiling cracks-
like mold in its black, germed coma.

Incision states permanence
not as pretty as flower tattoos.
The hypnotics deliver indifference
when one wakes to Incision.
