Inbox Torment Poem by Ben Littlechild

Inbox Torment

Rating: 4.8

Love left me in an email
The noise of new mail ringing like a bell
Its from her, I see the name I know so well
Is it a invite to chat or a jpeg to see
A picture from our date or somewhere to be.
I read the first line; it seems so happy and free
But half way down the message is one I never wanted to see
She doesn't want me in size 10 font Courier new
This message I don't want in my view..
The font is etched on my heart, my soul my screen
Never to messenger late at night when comfort and love are keen
She told me that friends we remain,
Yet love that once warmed is now a pain
The memory of our love is locked in a file
Not a card, or letter or photo of her smile
Just font on a screen, and numbers on a drive
Love is dead that once was alive.
Can email be nice and friendly to me,
Now that my loves online romance will never be.

Love and loss in modern day technology. Love is still love and loss is still loss regardless which century we're at. Ben, you write great poetry! ! ! ! A '10'.
