In Your Shadow Poem by Lora Colon

In Your Shadow

Rating: 4.9

Though fate has thrown distance between us,
In your shadow I still remain,
Your heart and mine now beat as one,
I breathe your air, I sense your pain

In your shadow I can feel your tears
Falling silently on my hand,
The fire that courses through your veins
Also sustains my heart's demand

In your shadow the air is sweeter,
Deeply I inhale love's perfume,
Resurrecting a hope long dead
That only your love could exhume

In your shadow my heart grows stronger,
Though I feared its demise was nigh,
It was broken, left in fragments,
Damaged.... but not ready to die

In your shadow I find my refuge
From the past's penetrating frost
That faded all my flowers of love,
Alas; the fragrance was not lost

In your shadow I know contentment,
Exiled dreams... just a memory,
At end of day I calmly wait
For your shadow to cover me

I hope the distance diminishes and you can both again share each others shadow.

'Alas, the fragrance (of faded flowers of love) was not lost.' Such a poignant line... I feel a new echo poem coming on! Look for it to be posted soon... 'The Fragrance of Love's Faded Flowers! ' Oh how many ways there are to view the mountain, how many ways to hold the past, and what a difference our choices can make! Write on Dear Poet of the Heart... Feel deeply but please always CHOOSE LIFE, CHOOSE LOVE!
