In Your Face I See A Success, Poem by Liza Sud

In Your Face I See A Success,

Rating: 5.0

In your face I see a success,
in your mind - the firmness in virtue,
and if ever light in you fades -
then I believe not for a long time.

And trees in the forest announce
that gladness will grow with the years,
To shine means the syllable 'glad' -
trees grow to light so that to get it.

***

I remember from my first year Latin in high school virtue comes the word vir = man, and by extension strength. The strength to do good, the strength to be good. In the first stanza you highlight two strengths; the face shows success, (worldly achievement) , and the mind displays firmness (soul achievement) . So I see an individual, male or female, even angelic possibly, who is ready for a spiritual mission. In the second stanza the soul's commitment to Light grants Gladness. You use the image of a tree growing higher in direction of sunlight: that is a biological imperative, for a human being it is a conscious choice of good over evil, to join Jesus in the work of salvation. It fulfills Jesus's motto: I am the Way, the Truth and the Light - doing so brings gladness to the individual.
