In The Wishing Poem by noel maddock

In The Wishing

In the wishing for the happiness of all
Of woman, man and every sentient being
We may our conscience clear, confess our every fall
Analyse why it is what is, is not what seems

Garner solitude in the name of all that’s good
Take every care with what we do and say
Keep our vows and precepts as we should
Learn the path in each and every way

But if we fail to train the heart to open every day
And make our love of others the point of everything we do
The self will infiltrate the words we pray
And rob our virtue even as we think we’re shrewd

Do not deceive the many to support the few
When we deceive ourselves we won’t be helping any
We can offer mother sentient beings their due
So let’s embrace the few to support the many
