In The Silence Poem by Colin Andersen

In The Silence

In the silence of the night
I keep calling you
night after night
you say after a few rings
you're not home.

Night after night
in your answering machine I leave
an unending number of messages

and out of despair
I try the cell phone;
you never respond
at some point you just turn it off

I've forgotten
how long I've been calling you
how many days, months or weeks have gone
or is it years that has vanished
I won't be able to say.
