In The Shadows Poem by Don Pengilly

In The Shadows

He lay there in the shadows
Of a dark and troubled mind
In thoughts of distant troubles
There many he could find
In not so distant future
By the grand old scheme of time
More recent troubles surfaced
Could these be more sublime?

His mind so full of trouble
Inspiring thoughts were lost
To cause so much a misery
And at so much a cost
To move from out of shadow
Into the light he must
Or sink so low in darkness
Thats all thats left is dust

How can he climb from such a depth
That he himself had made
But to look to Him from whom
The price already paid
In shadows all alone
Thoughts like these he cannot fight
Lest he takes Him by the hand
And He leads him to His light
