In The Past I Will Live Poem by Noah Body

In The Past I Will Live

The sun is shining
But my heart is pining
For times gone by
I just don't know why

Singing a song of times gone by
Never wondering how, what or why
Ages past were so much more fine
Like the aging of a very fine wine

The past is always so bright
When things were oh so right
Now the future is here
It snuck in with a snear

At my whole life entire
That burned up in the fire
Of self hatred and despair
That came from I don't know where

I look back and see joy and love
They were so like gifts from above
When times were good and I was sane
Now all those times are on the wane

The future holds nothing for me
For it's full of darkness you see
Shades of black and white and gray
That fill each and every day

It'll be over I don't know when
I should have died way back then
With captivating joy in my heart
Something from which I'd never part

So for now in the past I will live
There sunshine to my heart I will give
And I'll ignore the future's dark
For to my soul it shows no spark
