In The Hall Of Night Poem by Yasmin Khan

In The Hall Of Night

Rating: 5.0

I gaze-and gaze into celestial stretch
In solitude, on a dream’s edge
Night’s backdrop hung deep and dark
And play of light on the dark stage starts
The night’s queen with her lanterns
Bright and burnish’d set in a dim planter
Shooting stars stab the Cimmerian’s hearts
Centaurus, Orion, Gemini all bejeweled belts
Glimmering blinking strung in heavenly thread
And some on galaxies gloriously tread
Delphinus the Dolphin comes gliding across
Aquarius, the water carrier moves afar
Columba the dove soars high above
Leon the lion resting in a starry trove
As tiny diamonds in the Egyptian Queen’s tress
Jewels and gems on night’s dreary face rest
The ‘poetic steed with beamy mane’
And glistening wings tramps the gemmy lane

It’s a fabulous poem….enjoyed the astronomical treat.... A lovely panoramic view of the night sky. A stunning imagery is created in a painted galactic canvas I wanted to pick out a verse to quote… … ctrl C …Ctrl v… del…… ctrl C …Ctrl v… del…… ctrl C …Ctrl v… del… Sigh! And then just gave it up Each and every line was so endearing that I decided cant quote the whole poem… so let it go.. :) I being a classical sort with tradition built into my system so far as poetry goes… couldn’t decide where to stand with you on your mythological rich pickings, you hopped energetically over millennia… as if in a time machine….I could have been on Aladdin’s carpet zipping across the vistas and cosmos… nebula here the star spangled milky way there. Stay blessed :)
